Create a hold

Use a hold when a member is going out of town for a few weeks and wants to pause their subscription.

1. Open their subscription and go to the Edit menu.
2. Choose Pause Subscription.
3. Enter a start date and an end date for the hold — say they're leaving at the beginning of August for two weeks.
4. Click Pause.

An end date is required — but if they don't know when they'll be back (a deployment, a family emergency), set it as far in the future as you want. You can always adjust it later.

What changes when you pause

• The subscription status updates right away.
• If the hold covers their next order, that date shifts — on the subscription and on their Orders tab.
• If the hold starts later (August, say, when their next order is this week), the date doesn't move yet.

Remove a hold

Click Remove on the hold. That's also what you'll do if someone comes back earlier than planned — remove it and, if you need to, create a new one with the shorter dates.

Members with more than one subscription

Holds work the same way, with one extra decision — the checkbox for applying the hold to all of their subscriptions. Say Alberta has a primary share and an add-on, both due July 22:

• Leave the box checked — select just the primary share, pause for the week, and both subscriptions go on hold.
• Uncheck the box — only the share you selected goes on hold. The other one stays active.

When you look at their next order for the paused week, you'll see only the subscription you left active — the paused one is deferred to the following week.
