Let your members bring you new members

Most new CSA members come from someone who already loves your farm. But a member who wanted to bring a friend was on their own — there was no link to send, no credit to offer, and no way for you to thank them for it. Now there is, end to end.
You decide what each side gets. Under Settings → Marketing → Referrals you turn the program on and set two amounts: the credit the new member receives toward their first invoice, and the credit the referring member earns once that invoice is paid. Both start at $10.00, and turning the program off keeps your amounts saved for whenever you switch it back on.

Your members get their own link. A Refer and earn page in the member portal gives each member a personal link for your farm, a suggested message already written and ready to paste into a text, what each side gets, and what they have earned so far. On a phone, Share opens the usual share sheet; everywhere else there's Copy link. Farms they currently subscribe to come first, past ones tuck behind a toggle, and a lapsed member's link keeps earning — so someone who loved you for three seasons can still send people your way.

The link doesn't go stale. It works out where to send someone at the moment they click it — straight into sign-up if you offer one main plan, or to your plans page if you offer several — so a link sitting in a text thread from last spring still lands correctly after you've published and retired plans. If it can't be honored at all — the program is off, the visitor is already a member, someone clicked their own link — the friend still arrives on your farm's page with a plain sentence explaining why, rather than a dead end. Your /plans page also now lists main plans only, without add-ons like eggs or cream cluttering it, so it's a page you can confidently point people to.
The friend sees the credit before they pay. It appears on the signup summary as its own Referral credit line, applied to their very first invoice, with a tooltip naming your farm and the friend who sent them. If the credit is bigger than that first invoice the remainder stays on their account. They can still use one of your promo codes on top of it. And because the link already says who referred them, signup skips “How did you hear about us?” and records it for you.

The referrer gets paid when the money actually arrives. Once the new member's first invoice is paid — by card, by bank transfer, or by a cash or check payment you record yourself — the referring member's credit lands automatically, exactly once, and they get an email naming their friend and the amount. It waits for the money rather than the promise, it still pays out if the friend's first attempt fell through and they came back weeks later, and it isn't clawed back if they cancel down the road. The amounts are locked in at the moment your friend signs up, so you can change what you're offering whenever you like and every link already out in the world picks it up — nothing to re-share.
A few rules keep it honest: one credit per new member household, anyone who has ordered from you before isn't eligible, and nobody can credit themselves with their own link.
