How to Send a Basic Member Email or SMS Campaign

Release Date:
May 1, 2026

Video Chapters

Send a quick, targeted update to your members — like a product sub, pickup delay, or sold-out notice. Most simple day-of comms are an SMS to today's customers at the impacted sites.

Start the campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns → Upcoming → Create.
  2. Give it a name. Internal only — customers never see this. Use something specific like "Spinach → Kale sub" so it's searchable later.
  3. Create.

Set your audience

Filter to only the customers actually impacted.

  1. Order date — today, or the affected pickup window (weekend, multi-day route, etc.).
  2. Pickup site (or delivery zone) — only if the impact is partial. E.g., if you ran out of spinach mid-pack and only Petco Park is getting the sub, filter to that site.
  3. Watch the contact count update as you add filters — it's your sanity check before sending.

Pick your channel

  • SMS — best for same-day operational stuff (subs, delays, weather). Most simple notices are SMS-only.
  • Email — better for longer messages, promotions, anything with detail.
  • Both — when it really matters they see it.

Toggle off the ones you don't want, then continue to the next step.

Write the message

  1. Keep it short and direct. Example: Hi folks, unfortunately we ran out of spinach today. You'll be receiving kale in your boxes instead.
  2. Add an image if it helps people identify the sub — click Upload an image → select.

Preview & send

  1. Click View preview to see exactly what customers will receive.
  2. Double-check the recipient list — click to expand, click away to close.
  3. Send Now to fire immediately (you'll confirm once more), or Schedule to send later.

Scheduled campaigns can be edited up until the send time. Once sent, they move to your Sent Campaigns list.

Reuse it next time

For recurring sub or update patterns:

  1. Open the sent campaign → Actions → Clone.
  2. Edit the copy as needed (new product, new date, new sites).
  3. Send.
Where to find this update:
